Thrills 03:03
I was walking down memory lane Saw myself standing here way back when I didn’t need any more time to think Cause I miss those days where we wouldn’t blink Hey! Chill! We just want a thrill! So! I will Take the time for my guts to spill! No phoney wasteful afternoons. I get burned cause the sun never looks for shade. Oh, wake me when these pills overload My circuits and make me lose control Hey! Chill! We just want a thrill! So! I will Take the time for my guts to spill Will we ever survive Watch the days go by whatever makes you happy Yeah I know we can feel alright No I can’t wait to see the look on your beautiful face Hey! Chill! We just want a thrill! So! I will Take the time for my guts to spill! Turn that mountain into a hill!

Strung Out 02:15
Have you heard the news I’ll tell you it gives me the blues Can smell the fumes Live wires bring a shock to my mind and my heart And the fuel runs out The land dries and cracks The future looks so bleak I think I’m burning out Strung Out! My eyes are tired My words are worn My blood has turned And I need to churn it out Strung Out! I’ve got a fever baby Night sweats have me down on my dreams Can you whisper to me? Like medusa who’s naked and sees in the dark I want to numb the pain I want to get away Hit the road again Time is running out Strung Out! My face is pale My clothes are black The future is here And it’s filled with folly and fear Strung Out!

Hey Mister! 03:55
Hey there, Mister You must be over your head Time it slows right down To a simple crawl… You feed yourself lead You want to fight till you're dead Though a century of life Has a certain appeal It makes no sense When you pretend The sky must be falling Inside your own head Ain’t no pretence When you’re on the fence Might as well have your Head in the sand my friend Hey there, Mister! You’re nailed to your bed With the remote in your hand And the curtains drawn The glow of the lights They’re burning your eyes But honestly You disappear so well! It makes no sense When you pretend The sky must be falling Inside your own head Ain’t no pretence When you’re on the fence Might as well have your head In the sand my friend

What’s on the road Rain coming down real hard now Haven’t seen a soul Can’t recognize anything around Jackknifed trucks left and cleared Ominous crow appears Don’t say it These things are not related Can’t you see that It’s your mind mutilated Don’t fret it Or you’ll just regret it hit the gas make a pass and just forget it! Signs are they are down Lights they flicker and they go out My visions unclear The crow reappears Forest of my mind Haunted for all of time This forest has lies The evil is disguised! Don’t say it These things are not related Can’t you see that It’s your mind mutilated Don’t fret it Or you’ll just regret it hit the gas make a pass and just forget it!

City in the deep Jungle never weeps People everywhere Accumulating every minute Does he need the rush Maybe he’s paranoid A prophylactic Taken every hour I know You gotta give me a reason Above Below I don’t have anything to believe in! If I see you in My apocalypse Will it mean that All is forgiven Will you shave your head Will you mark your skin Paint red This city that we live in I know You gotta give me a reason Above Below I don’t have anything to believe in!

about

Lampshades came together in 2014 with the aim of taking the weirdness they admired in ‘80s noise rock and adding their own frenetic energy into the mix. Their recording efforts to date showcase a ferocious and visceral sound that captures their intense live performances and their thematic preoccupations with the disengagement and disenfranchisement found within the urban landscape.

On their second EP, In Medias Res, Tan Arcade sings from his gut, belting out melodic lyrical impressions, while also exploding through the amplifier with guitar wails and discordant feedback. Eric Pentz, (bass guitar), and Karver Hitchcock (drums), come together to form the band's rhythm section, inciting a thudding sense of urgency to the songs. Eric’s workmanlike bass playing and Karver’s pummeling hits maintain fervor from the start of the album right to the very end. Taking inspiration from the grit and lyricism of acts such as Jesus Lizard, Sonic Youth, and Nick Cave, Lampshades follow the path that these bands carved as they look for some hope within the dirty and ugly aspects of a paranoid society.
